Ingredients
Scale
- 2–3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 8–10 ounces cold water
- 1 cup ice cubes
- 1–2 teaspoons honey, agave, or preferred sweetener, optional
- 1–2 fresh lemon slices, optional garnish
Instructions
- Squeeze fresh lemon juice into a tall glass until you have 2-3 tablespoons.
- Fill the glass with ice cubes, packing them loosely.
- Pour 8-10 ounces of cold water into the glass, leaving about 1 inch of space at the top.
- Add the optional sweetener if using.
- Stir gently to dissolve and distribute the sweetener.
- Measure exactly 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda.
- Slowly add the baking soda to the glass.
- Watch as the drink begins to fizz and bubble immediately.
- Stir gently with a long spoon for 15-20 seconds.
- Taste and adjust with more lemon juice for tartness or more water for a lighter flavor.
- Garnish with fresh lemon slices if desired.
- Serve immediately while the carbonation is active.
Notes
Use fresh lemon juice for the brightest flavor. Measure the baking soda carefully to avoid an overly salty or alkaline taste. Drink immediately because the natural carbonation fades within a few minutes.
