Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons (14g) whole coffee beans
- 8 fluid ounces (240ml) filtered water
- Water heated to 195-205°F (90-96°C)
Instructions
- Measure 2 tablespoons of whole coffee beans using a kitchen scale or measuring spoon.
- Grind the coffee beans immediately before brewing to a medium-fine texture resembling granulated sugar.
- Heat filtered water to 195-205°F (90-96°C).
- Remove the water from the heat and allow it to cool for 30 seconds before brewing.
- Place a filter in your preferred brewing device and add the freshly ground coffee.
- Pour a small amount of hot water over the grounds to saturate them evenly.
- Wait 30 seconds for the coffee to bloom.
- Slowly pour the remaining water over the grounds in circular motions over 2-3 minutes.
- Allow the brewed coffee to pass completely through the grounds into your serving cup.
- Serve immediately and enjoy black without milk, cream, sugar, or sweeteners.
Notes
Use freshly roasted whole coffee beans and grind them immediately before brewing for the best flavor. Filtered water and the correct water temperature help produce a smoother, more balanced cup. Avoid adding sweeteners or cream if you want to keep the coffee virtually calorie-free.
