Ingredients
4 boneless skinless chicken thighs
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons melted butter
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 1/2 cups whole milk
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon paprika
Pinch of cayenne pepper
Instructions
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C)
Season chicken thighs with salt and black pepper
Heat olive oil in an oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat
Sear chicken thighs for 5-6 minutes per side until golden brown
Sprinkle flour over each thigh to coat
In a small bowl, melt butter and set aside
Pour milk into the skillet and stir to deglaze the pan
Stir in garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and cayenne pepper
Let the mixture simmer until it thickens, about 5-7 minutes
Reduce heat to low and place the skillet in the oven
Let it bake for 10 minutes to meld flavors and finish thickening
Notes
Use an oven-safe skillet that can handle both stovetop and oven heat
For a lighter version, substitute low-fat milk for whole milk
Serve hot with mashed potatoes, rice, or biscuits for a complete Southern meal
