Ingredients
6 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs
1/4 cup soy sauce (low-sodium recommended)
3 tbsp bourbon flavoring (cooking extract)
1 tbsp grated ginger
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 tbsp brown sugar
1/2 cup chicken broth
1 tbsp cornstarch (slurry with 2 tbsp water)
2 tbsp olive oil for pan-frying
Scallions, sliced (for garnish)
Sesame seeds (optional topping)
Instructions
Pat chicken thighs dry and season with salt
Combine soy sauce, bourbon flavoring, ginger, garlic, brown sugar, and broth in slow cooker
Add chicken thighs and turn to coat
Cover and cook on low for 6 hours
In final 30 minutes, add cornstarch slurry to thicken sauce
Garnish with scallions and sesame seeds before serving
Notes
Use chicken thighs with skin for optimal juiciness
Add extra broth or water if pan-frying oil is not preferred
Let rest for 10 minutes before serving for better juiciness
