Ingredients
Scale
- 1–2 teaspoons matcha powder
- 1–2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- Pinch to 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
- 8 ounces filtered water
- 1/2–1 teaspoon honey or agave nectar (optional)
- Pinch sea salt (optional)
Instructions
- Measure 1-2 teaspoons of ceremonial-grade matcha powder into a bowl and add 2 to 3 tablespoons of filtered water heated to 160-170°F.
- Use a matcha whisk in quick, circular motions for 30 to 60 seconds until the matcha base becomes creamy, foamy, and free of lumps.
- Add a pinch of black pepper to the matcha base and whisk thoroughly to incorporate the spice evenly.
- Pour in the remaining hot water, then slowly stir in 1-2 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice, optional honey or agave nectar, and a pinch of sea salt, whisking until dissolved.
- Pour into your preferred drinking vessel immediately and serve while hot and foamy.
Notes
Invest in a proper matcha whisk to create the signature smooth, foamy texture. Heat water precisely to 160-170°F to avoid bitterness, and add lemon juice gradually to balance flavors.
